More than you realize
Four months ago, I issued a challenge: Come and see God in a new way, a challenging way, a way that gives you all you need to become, to grow, and to begin to realize just how powerful and influential you are in the role you are invited to play. And what is this role? It is as a participant in the coming of the Kingdom of God.
This Kingdom is not for heaven, for our afterlife, as many would have us believe. They want us to think this world is a lost cause. It is evil. It belongs to the devil. Just do your best, proclaim Jesus as your savior, and Jesus will do the Kingdom-coming work when He comes again.
No! We miss out on too much with this narrow view of life and salvation. This is God’s world, and Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier — have no intention of allowing evil to overcome. And They invite each of us to play our crucial, individual, and collective roles in realizing Their way, Their love, Their receptivity in every now of our lives.
What does this look like for you? What does this look like for your friend, your sibling, your spouse, your mom, your dad, your boss, the person in the car next to you? In every moment, we can participate, say yes, work with God to realize a bit of Themselves in our right here, in our right now. What can it look like to try to fit God Themselves (Three in One) into our daily lives? We cannot, but yet God calls us to try, for in doing so, oh my God, great things occur!
Each of us was made for this in our own particular ways. We can experiment, play with, fight with, and rest in this role. Let’s come together and see what difference doing so makes in our lives and in the lives of those we live with. Let’s see what God’s Kingdom coming can do in our particular parts of creation.
Reflection
How might God want more from you, in you, and with you?
Prayer
Dear God, I must confess, I find my current view of You limiting and questionable in ways I didn’t think I had the freedom to voice. Instead of forcing myself to accept this tension between us, help me to see it as Your invitation to come closer and find more, for You are more. You are inexhaustible, and You call to me. Show me how to answer. Show me how to participate in You and reflect You so much more than I am now. Amen.
