My suffering and the suffering of so many others leaves us all asking, and rightly so, where is God in this?

I know where.

There is treasure we can receive because of what God can do within us in the midst of suffering.

How can you work with God in the space between perception and action to shed what’s toxic and bring life to yourself and those around you?

Our acknowledgment of God’s presence within us, loving, comforting, encouraging, informing is the match to the flame.

God takes suffering and brings from it incredible beauty, strength, resolve, and wonder. James Cone knew this. Sojourner Truth knew this. Harriet Tubman knew this. We all know this. It is written within us (cf Genesis 1:27). We have no excuse but to be heroes.

The image of God within us may be telling us we can be a whole lot more than we are.

How aware are you of the joy and peace that comes with the deliberate choice to see as God sees and work to bring that reality into your NOW?

What does prayer do?

We can work to make God’s voice louder than the dark words.
