What do you know?
Suffering can create a wild energy within us. It matters what we do with it. We can use it to push God away. For that matter, we can use it to push everyone away! Or, we can use it to shove ourselves, so to speak, right into God.
I’m not talking about the god of our public square, the one who says you must be baptized or believe this or that. God isn’t the least concerned about what you believe or think. He’s concerned with what you know. Now think about that. What you know. You know suffering hurts. You know it shouldn’t be. You know love is what should be prevailing. You know just how much you should matter, how much everyone of us should matter. You know it!
What else do you know?
You know you should be powerful. You know these shiould-be’s are actually realities just waiting for you to pick up and put into practice! What you know is within you by the hand of God. It’s God’s image within you, put there before you were born, just waiting to be realized and put into action.
Richard Rohr tells us our view of God creates our reality. If you are disempowered, I’ll bet your view of God is a weak one, a shaming, blaming, distant one.
Look within. And if you’re suffering, oh, make use of that energy! Admit what you come into contact with. That’s God!

What is it you see and know within you?
Prayer
Dear God, I haven’t been taught to look for you within me. In fact, I haven’t been taught to rely on me at all. Are you within me, God? Show me. May I hear you. May I be open to hearing you within me. May I be open to hearing your invitation to me to work with you! Amen.
